Meeting Minutes
The Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC) held a meeting on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 7:00 PM in the Old Courtroom at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT.
Members Present: Martin Blanco, Jennifer Johnston, Rob Kaiser, Donna Mangiafico, Linda Watson
Members Absent: Debbie Aurelia, Joe Grasso, Marina Moscovici
Auxiliary Members Present: Jennifer Rogers
Jennifer Johnston called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM.
Approval of the October minutes was tabled to the December meeting as a quorum was not reached.
Officer Reports:
Jennifer Johnston reported that the NCAC Annual Report has been submitted.
Jennifer Johnston discussed the recent HVCA Breakfast. The breakfast was in honor of Joseph DaSilva of the Danbury Palace Theatre. She was able to network and discuss future collaborations such as film festivals.
Jennifer discussed the NCAC website. She would like to have the 2009 calendar and artist and organization links available in the next few weeks.
Jennifer Rogers discussed the Amahl and the Night Visitors production. The Western Connecticut State University Opera Ensemble will perform an encore of their traditional holiday classic~Amahl and the Night Visitors by Gian Carlo Menotti at the Edmund Town Hall on~Saturday, December 13, 2008 at~8~PM. ~Tickets are~$12 Adults and $8 seniors/students. The NCAC will use the funds for the refurbishment of the Edmund Town Hall Theater.~
Martin Blanco discussed The Flagpole Radio Café program ads. He offered to send information via email. The next performances are December 20, 2008 and February 7, March 7, and May 30, 2009.
Rob Kaiser discussed the annual Fezziwig Ball. Martin Blanco offered to reserve the Alexandria Room (if available) and Rob Kaiser will work on the publicity.
Linda Watson presented the NCAC financial report from July 2008 through October 2008. She asked that all receipts be submitted by the 2nd Tuesday of the month in order to be processed and reported on the following month’s report.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2008, 7:00 PM in the Old Courtroom at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT.
